Ashes to Ashes
Come, let’s walk through the rain, the gently misting rain and relive those dreams long dead.
In the air, crisp with fall, fantasy and illusion prevail.
Hush, don’t speak; no words need be spoken my darling.
Just close your eyes, and with a sigh, travel back through time with me.
Do you remember?
Those long summer nights
those rainy afternoons
the secrets that only you knew.
And in the shadows the flowers grew,
while the Sun shown brightly, a storm was brewing.
And bound forever by the written word,
you can never leave me now.
Run with me, cling to me, please don’t let me fall.
Down into the void so close now, I fear the ground is shifting.
It’s getting far too cold now, our frozen breaths combining.
Swallowed up by time and distance,
Held hostage by the immortal dream,
never say it’s over sweety.
Let’s sit a while in the mystical wood that became our silent refuge,
drink from the river that I always loved, and laugh away reality.
Dismiss all time with a careless hand,
relive that poetry which once coursed through us.
And in the Early Morning, those fateful words resound.
And in the shadows the flowers grew,
while the Sun shown brightly, a storm was brewing.
And bound forever by the written word,
you can never leave me now.
[Love this.]
You have an awesome way of making me feel like I'm where you are when I read your stuff. Your writings as of late seem sort of...unsettled, but perhaps that's just me.
It's beautiful and haunting.
Thanks.
Bob
I too, hate you. Kiddin' of course. You're writing is wonderful, Cala. It's filled with so many different emotions, and they all meld together like a kiss. I'm done being sappy.
